Police have announced the death of one of their officers who was hit with stone by a mentally ill man who attacked a police station.
According to Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga, the incident happened in Kyegegwa , when Ronald Kasirye, 28 a man known to have history of mental illness attacked Kyegegwa police station.
“He was known to police officers as he used to come to the police station. On the fateful day, Kasirye attacked police officers with stones,”Enanga said.
“In one of the many stones thrown at police officers, a Special Police Constable, Francis Tindyebwa who was manning the entrance to the police station was hit with a stone on the head which cracked his skull.”
Enanga said that whereas their officer was rushed to Kyegegwa referral hospital, he was on Sunday pronounce dead following the incident.
The police spokesperson said the suspect, Ronald Kasirye has since been arrested whereas burial arrangements for the police are ongoing.
